The M4A1 featured in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. It is an american assault rifle that fires in fully automatic mode. It contains a 30 round clip,45 with extended mag attachment. Each shot produces 20-30 damage in multiplayer. The amount caused in single player is unknown. Damage multipliers include, head: 1.4, chest: 1, limbs: 1. It is the second unlocked assault rifle, unlocked at level 4, it comes with the ability to create custom classes. In single player it is the first used assault rifle and the first weapon used in the game. It is used in a demonstration by PFC Allen to show the Afghan national army proper fire control. It is a commonly used weapon by Army Rangers and Task Force 141. It is also used by the Navy SEALs in their one mission appearance, “The Only Easy Day was Yesterday”. The multiplayer and singleplayer M4s are near identical, high RoF (Rate of Fire), low recoil, good accuracy at medium to farther ranges, with medium to high penetration ability. With it being an excellent assault rifle all around it could be deadly in players who are skilled with it and players who are generally experienced enough at the game to be called veterans. It has a Rof of 800 RPM (Rounds Per Minute). The M4 is very similar to the ACR but the 50 RPM greater RoF makes the recoil faster for the M4. The ACR with its slower RoF makes it better rated for far range combat and the M4 leaning more towards close quarter battle (CQB) or close quarter combat (CQC) in general. Another big difference, that may seem insignificant to some players but important to others, is the weapons profile. The M4 is the smaller, cut-down version of the M16A2 assault rifle. The M4 being smaller in 3rd person may not be seen in close quarters by enemies clearing a room, useful to players playing stealthy going for easy kills. The ACR on the other hand is huge when looked at in 3rd person. With the increase in RoF the M4 can be me even more powerful with the Stopping Power Perk in close quarters. Marathon or Lightweight can be used in close quarters to bring the player close to enemies in close quarters furthering the player’s power in close quarters. Steady Aim makes the M4 even more effective, increasing accuracy. The red dot sight is the most commonly used optic sight. The holographic sight is used more for close range aiming. The ACOG the best at far range. Some players find the iron sights obstructive while other don’t. Overall the M4A1 is a very effective weapon in capable hands but is beaten by the ACR and is often overlooked as a good weapon because it is unlocked early.
